Materials

At Lewis & Eve, we believe jewellery should be as enduring as it is beautiful. Every piece in our collection is crafted from carefully selected materials that balance luxury with strength, so you can wear your jewellery with confidence every day.

Stainless Steel with Gold Plating

All of our gold-toned jewellery is made from 304 or 316 stainless steel, chosen for its strength, resistance to corrosion, and hypoallergenic qualities. Each piece is finished with a layer of real 14kt or 18kt gold using PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) or Ion Plating — advanced techniques that bond the gold to the steel at a molecular level.

  • Durability: PVD and Ion Plating create a far stronger finish than traditional plating, meaning your jewellery will better resist fading and everyday wear.
  • Tarnish Resistance: Unlike softer base metals, stainless steel does not tarnish or rust easily, ensuring your gold finish remains brilliant.

Ion-Plated Black & Coffee Finishes

Our signature Black and Coffee collections are created exclusively with Ion Plating. This process uses high-energy ions to fuse colour to the stainless steel base.

  • The result is a bold, deep finish that is more durable and scratch-resistant than standard plating.
  • Ion Plating ensures these distinctive tones remain rich and refined, even with frequent wear.

925 Sterling Silver

In addition to our stainless steel designs, we offer select pieces in genuine 925 Sterling Silver — an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals for strength.

  • Sterling silver has a bright, timeless finish and is beloved for its classic elegance.
  • Over time, natural tarnishing may occur — a hallmark of authentic silver — but this can be easily polished away with a soft silver cloth.

Tarnish & Care

  • Gold-Plated Stainless Steel (PVD/Ion Plated): Highly resistant to tarnish and fading, designed to maintain its brilliance through everyday wear.
  • Ion-Plated Black & Coffee: Durable and scratch-resistant with excellent tarnish resistance.
  • 925 Sterling Silver: May develop a natural patina with exposure to air and moisture, which can be polished back to shine.

Care Tip: To keep your jewellery looking its best, store it in a pouch or box when not being worn, and avoid direct contact with harsh chemicals, perfumes, and water.
